Emmy Winning Series "After Forever" Returns to BTV for Season 2

The first season of digital series After Forever made history when it won more Daytime Emmy Awards than any LGBTQ-themed drama series in history; Daytime or Primetime. The series will return at the top of 2022.



Kevin Spirtas (Days of Our Lives, One Life to Live) stars in After Forever and also serves as Executive Producer with Michael Slade (Days of Our Lives, One Life to Live), who created the series with Spirtas. Spirtas won the Daytime Emmy Award playing Brian, who attempts to date again, following the loss of his husband Jason, played by Mitchell Anderson (Doogie Howser, Party of Five). At the beginning of the series. Jason continues to appear throughout the series in flashbacks, but in the present only appears in moments Brian needs him most; almost like a guardian angel teaching him how to move on without him.

  • Outstanding Writing for a Digital Drama Series (Michael Slade and Kevin Spirtas)

  • Outstanding Directing of a Digital Drama Series (Jennifer Pepperman)

  • Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Digital Drama Series (Erin Cherry)


2019 Daytime Emmy nominations also went to Mitchell Anderson for Outstanding Lead Actor, Tony Award-winner Cady Huffman was nominated for Outstanding Supporting Actress, and Tony Award-nominee, Anita Gillette (‘Moonstruck’, ’30 Rock’) was nominated for Outstanding Guest Performance.


Slade and Spirtas also received consecutive nominations for the Writers Guild of America Award in the Short Form New Media – Original category for season one and season two.

2020 Daytime Emmy nominations also went to the Huffman was nominated for Outstanding Lead Actress, Lenny Wolpe was nominated for Outstanding Supporting Actor, The Good Wife's Mary Beth Peil was nominated for Outstanding Supporting Actress, Scott Michael Salame and Timmy Scheus were nominated for Outstanding Art Direction and Scenic Design, while the entire After Forever team was nominated for Outstanding Digital Drama Series.

Season one of After Forever garnered rave reviews, but as season two is on the horizon, it takes a deeper look at how Brian commits to a relationship with another man, played by Broadway actor, Mike McGowan (The Book of Mormon, Ragtime) Fun fact for BTV Insiders, season two features scenes inside the legendary piano bar in New York City, Don’t Tell Mama.


Kevin Spirtas and Mitchell Anderson will be returning with cast members David Dean Bottrell, Emmy-winner Erin Cherry, Finn Douglas, Emmy-nominee Anita Gillette, Emmy-nominee Cady Huffman, Peter Kim, Robert Emmet Lunney, Mike McGowan, Jim Newman, Erin Leigh Peck, Jonathan Rayson, Jamison Stern, and Emmy-nominee Lenny Wolpe. They will be joined in season two by Emmy-nominee Mary Beth Peil (Dawson’s Creek, The Good Wife), Bill Brochtrup, Wyatt Fenner, Christopher J. Hanke, Grammy and Tony-nominee, Michael McElroy, and Scott Redmond.


Executive producers include Spirtas, Slade, F. Robb Caster, Drew Desky, Dane Levens, Arnold R. Spirtas and Sandra T. Spirtas, with Allison Vanore serving as producer. Co-Executive Producers include Ken Fakler, Alan D. Marks, Barbra Marks, Julie Michaels, and Eric J.
