The 2024 Met Gala has come and gone. The star-studded event was filled with both incredible outfits and fashion faux pas.
In celebration of the Costume Institute's spring exhibition, “Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion,” the Met Gala 2024's theme was “The Garden of Time.”
The evening's fashion motif draws inspiration from a J.G. Ballard narrative depicting a count resorting to plucking roses from his garden to halt time and evade an approaching mob. This theme, rich with dystopian implications, resonates with the exhibition's exploration of the interplay between past and present. As a result, the red carpet showcased an eclectic array of attire, ranging from floral patterns to avant-garde techno-inspired designs, with subtle nods to the tale of Sleeping Beauty adding an extra layer of intrigue.
A couple regularly-attending celebrities were missing including: Rihanna and Katy Perry. And the reality TV stars from Brandon TV haven’t quite made received their invitation yet either. But if they did go, what would they be wearing? Here’s how I imagine these stars would have dressed for the 2024 Met Gala.
Matt Sarafa from The Getaway Los Angeles
Matt Sarafa has an eclectic and gender-fluid personality, with an exuberant style, that would perfectly match this floral jacket piece from Valentine’s haute couture Fall/Winter 22/23 collection. Not to mention, you know he would serve a face beat to the gods.
Dianna Williams from Dancing Dolls
A lovable diva like Dianna Williams needs to BRING IT in a couture gown like this rose-esque Elie Saab haute couture dress from his autumn/winter 2022-2023 collection, presented at Paris Fashion Week.
Hannah Grace Colin from Mad House
Hannah Grace Colin is everyone’s favorite dancer from Mad House and her young, fun, feminine spirit would pair perfectly with a white nimph queen gown, “Gala Butterflies” Bridal Collection 22 by Bibian Blue Bridal, with some structure and a tad bit of sex appeal. You know, because she needs to remind viewers she has grown up from her Dance Moms days.
Brandon Stewart from Obsessed
The founder and fearless captain at Brandon Studios, and host of new late night show Obsessed, would be perfect in a unique, yet bold suit. A look that made Dan Levy’s 2024 Met Gala fit the perfect model for how Stewart would have presented as well - sassy and chic.
Monique Martin from The Getaway Los Angeles
The sassy 'Muvva' on The Getaway Los Angeles deserves a fierce, show-stopping, avant garde, dystopian gown like this. A look from Elie Saab that Danai Gurira dawned for the Wakanda Forever premiere in London.
Marlene Ortiz from The Getaway Los Angeles
Marlene is full of fun and latin flavor, and she fully embraces her curves. I’d love to see her in a body hugging, dark romantic look similar to Ashley Graham’s 2017 Met Gala look.
