Opinion: 3 Reasons "The Dolls" Is Better Than "Bring It"

Fans of the hit reality TV show Bring It, which aired from 2014 to 2019 on the Lifetime network, were thrilled to learn that Dianna Williams and her Dancing Dolls are starring in a brand-new series premiering on the streaming platform Brandon TV.

Despite record viewership for the new streaming app (so much so that they actually crashed the app on it's premiere date), some fans were hesitant to embrace the new format of the show while others loved it.

Here are three reasons why I think The Dolls on Brandon TV is better than Bring It on Lifetime.

Reason 1: A New Format

One of the biggest surprises to fans of the OG show was that the Dancing Dolls do not compete every week like they did on Bring It. Dianna actually admitted herself they do not typically do that and it was all for the show. With this new format of looking into practices and the lives of the coaches, including Dianna, the dancers, and their families, it paints a much more holistic image of the shows' stars. It allows us time to get to know them and their families, hear more confessionals, and see the whole process from practice to performance. For me, this is so much better than seeing moms yelling and the troupe going to win a competition in every. single. episode. Don't get me wrong, I love some drama, but it's good to have a new format that allows for variety so fans don't get bored.

Reason 2: New Talent and Old

I love the OG DDPs, but it's nice to have a mix of old and new stars on The Dolls. We, of course, have Dianna Williams, but we also get appearances from DDP Mimi Harris who was a fixture on Bring It. We also get to know some amazing new talent such as Head Captain Destiny Sykes and Head Coach Jenear Kidd.

Reason 3: Dianna Williams is an Executive Producer

Believe it or not, Williams has admitted many times she had little-to-no control over any of the drama or what was shown on Bring It. Brandon TV is not only bringing back some of our favorite reality TV queens, but ushering in a new era of reality TV by giving Williams Executive Producer credit. She has input now on the whole process of the show which helps gives fans a better inside look. Plus, it's better for the show in general showing that Brandon Studios invests in its talent.
