The Most Underrated Murder Mystery Everyone Should Watch

Everyone loves a good murder mystery, and today, they're taking the world of film and television by storm with hits like Knives Out, Glass Onion and Poker Face. But there's one series that has not received enough attention, and we want to talk about it.

It's called Summer Lane Drive and if you're a fan of Adult Swim, you'll definitely be a fan of this. The stop motion animated series was created by Kirk Flash, a native of London, England, who decided to take production into his own hands - literally.

Flash is the writer and creator of the award-winning animated series Summer Lane Drive. The show debuted on YouTube in 2020, and was made an official selection at the Web Series Festival (USA) 2020, The Monkey Bread Tree Film Awards (UK) 2021, Bilbao International Series Digital Festival (Spain) 2021 and won Best Series at the Die Laughing Film Festival (USA) 2021 and New Wave Short Film Festival (Germany) 2021.

The series all takes place in the most plastic place on earth - Los Angeles. No but really. A 1990's Romance novelist named Hillary Samuels has it all. From a glamorous career, a coveted address, and the most perfect hair, but tastes have changed and her book sales are dropping.

That's when the murder of her neighbor, it-girl-model-actress-doctor-ballerina-astronaut, Darbie Roberts, gives Hillary an idea, but as she uncovers the truth, she realizes more than her career might be at stake.

As the season progresses, each character in the story finds themselves suspect to a murder that leaves no stone unturned.

Before all of this, Flash studied Film at King’s College London and Screenwriting at the University of California. He went on to hold writing positions with various creative agencies and a scriptwriting position on the continuity team at Channel 4.

Flash's new comedy podcast This is Gay was selected as one of the Guardian’s picks of the week, dubbing it “Cunk on Britain meets Blue Jam”.

The series won the Silver for Best Comedy at the British Podcast Awards 2022 and won Gold for the Rising Star Award, sponsored by BBC Sounds.

The former presenter and Channel 4 announcer joined BTV Studio in 2020, where he continues to be a freelance producer with a possible Season 2 for Summer Lane Drive coming soon.
